I see that episode 50 is up already so this comment will probably never be seen, but it’s worth telling anyway. It’s a baseball story.
A few years ago I was at a Red Sox / Yankees game, at Fenway. This guy comes in, a couple of innings into the game, shown right to his seat in front of me by an usher. Odd, I think, until I realize that the guy is blind. He’s got the cane and everything. Fair enough. There’s a joke in there somewhere about the guy who can’t see the game somehow ends up with better seats than I got.
He pulls out a radio and starts fumbling with it. Makes sense, so he can get the play by play. Eventually he turns around and asks whether somebody can put his radio on the local sports channel for him, which I do. He thanks me, turns back toward the game, and settles down with his headphones. A couple minutes later, I can’t remember what exactly had happened, he starts yelling out in the general direction of the field “Hey Jeter! You SUCK! JETER SUCKS!!!!”
I thought it was hysterical. He couldn’t necessarily see any Yankees, but damnit he knew they were out there somewhere. Now that’s a hardcore Red Sox fan.
